THE FERRARI 275 GTB/6C #08501GT - 1966 HISTORY
Beginning 1968,Dennis Wilson picked-up two women hitchiking of the Manson "family", few time later, he will meet Charles Manson.
Charles Manson and a few members of his "family" moved in with the Wilson brothers, Brian and Dennis, at 14400 west Sunset boulevard, Beverly Hills .
In those days, Brian Wilson had a Ferrari 275 GTB/6C silver grey, wich had been repainted dark red.
The Manson family had borrowed it while staying at their house, and damaged it in dowtown Los Angeles, front and back, this car #08743GT was registered with the tag number TVR872.
Dennis Wilson, was also owner of a Ferrari 275 GTB/6C silver grey #08501GT, registered under tag VAM559 in Los Angeles. (see registry of prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi).
During 1968, the "Manson family" left the Wilson's residence, and moved to the Spahn Movie Ranch, 1200 Santa Susanna road, CA.
Dennis Wilson, at the wheel of his Ferrari 275 GTB/6C went regularly to Spahn Ranch to practice his music with Charles Manson.
During one of his visit, Steven Grogan, aka "Tufts Clem" and Charles Denton Watson, aka "Tex" borrow the Ferrari #08501GT for a joy ride and had an accident on Santa Susanna road.
The next day, "Clem and Tex " will say that they had been very lucky, the car having rolled twice, only the trunk lid, the right rear fender and right door were not damaged !
They managed to get out of the 275 GTB thru the right window, the roof being crushed all the way to the steering wheel,occasioning damages in excess of $21,000.
The wreck will be taken to the Beverly Hill body shop.
The Ferrari 275 GTB #08501GT sold as is (Crashed) to Hollywood Sport Car Garage, 5766 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, Californie.
Numerous informations have been taken from books written by the prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi ,who wrote about the investigations and trials of the Manson family, as well as the police reports.
